The Story of Lois
Welcome to the First Blog on This Website!
My name is Lois Nooij, I’m 21 years old, and recently I found out that I have celiac disease. I’m also a co-founder of this website, a place where I, along with others, want to make living gluten-free more accessible and enjoyable.
On October 10, 2024, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. That was about three months ago. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that means I cannot eat gluten at all. Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing more information about celiac disease, gluten intolerance, and related topics.
Before my diagnosis, I often had stomach pains, but I didn’t know exactly what was causing them. Eventually, I decided to visit the doctor, not expecting that my diet would need such a drastic change. After blood tests, a gastroscopy, and months of uncertainty, it turned out that my values indicating celiac disease were extremely high. At first, I even thought something must have gone wrong with the tests!
Now, three months later, I’m trying to live completely gluten-free. It’s been a journey of ups and downs. Sometimes I discover unexpectedly that there is gluten in products, like bouillon cubes or even disposable tableware. But I’m learning every day and I already feel much better!
With this website, I want to make it a little easier for anyone who needs or wants to live gluten-free. Besides personal stories and helpful tips, I’m also building a platform where you can find everything you need:
-
Tips for home and travel: Traveling with celiac disease can be challenging, but I want to show you that it can also be fun. For example, in countries like Spain, there are more and more gluten-free options available! I’ll share tips on where you can eat safely, useful phrases in the local language, and what to avoid.
-
Monthly Food Boxes: These boxes are packed with surprising and delicious gluten-free products, so you’ll never run out of options. Each month, I’ll put together a new box with products that you might not know yet but will absolutely want to try.
-
Products that make gluten-free living easier: In addition to the food boxes, we’ll also sell useful products like gluten-free cookbooks, travel guides, stickers to label your items, and even kitchen tools specifically designed for people who need to cook gluten-free.
With this website, I aim to be not just a source of information but also to create a community. I believe that living gluten-free can be not only easier but also more fun and creative. Here, you can read stories, find inspiration, discover products, and share tips with others.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you’d like to join the conversation, have questions, or feel something is missing from the site, please don’t hesitate to let me know! Together, we can make this place a valuable resource for everyone dealing with gluten.
Best regards and see you soon,
Lois
